US Open 2025: Maintains $21.5 Million Prize Pool, Golf Leader

The USGA is maintaining the prize fund for this week’s US Open at $21.5 million, the same as in the 2024 championship. The US Open remains the leading championship with the most lucrative prize. The Masters raised its prize pool to $21 million in April, the PGA Championship was $19 million, and the most recent Open Championship (July 2024) paid $17 million in prizes.

When I started at the USGA just four years ago, our prize was $12.5 million, so I feel comfortable that we have been leaders in moving fast and bigger. … The same, by the way, has happened on the women’s side, where we have gone from 5.5 million to 12 million in a similar period of time.

When the explosion stood out at the golf awards this decade. “We know this is probably not really about the money for the person who wins, but at the same time we want the money to be in line with the achievement. So we feel comfortable,” he added.
