FLOURTOWN, Pa. – Sahith Theegala withdrew from the Truist Championship on Sunday due to a neck injury, just days before the season’s second major.

Theegala, who opened with rounds of 69 and 71 at the $20 million no-cut event, fell to last place in the field after a 78 (+8) on Saturday.

After a birdie in the third round, Theegala recorded four bogeys, a double bogey, and a triple bogey on the Wissahickon Course at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.

The 27-year-old player was ranked 31st in the world at the beginning of this week.

It is not yet known whether the injury will affect his participation in the PGA Championship, which begins on Thursday at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Theegala was the third player to withdraw from the Truist Championship, following Justin Rose (illness) and Michael Kim (back).
