Adam Scott Seeks to Break Drought at Australian PGA Championship

Adam Scott, a renowned golfer, is in search of his third title at the Australian PGA Championship, following a standout performance that puts him in contention. Scott, who hasn’t achieved a victory in a 72-hole event since the Genesis Invitational in 2020, is determined to end this streak. The former world number one and Masters champion, achieved a round of 66 strokes on Saturday, with eight birdies and three bogeys, which allowed him to briefly share the lead. He finished the day with a total of 11 under par, placing him in ninth place. The competition is fierce, with Min Woo Lee, Marc Leishman, Anthony Quayle, David Puig from Spain and Ricardo Gouveia from Portugal, all with high chances of surpassing Scott in the rankings.

It’s hard to complain about 66.

At 45 years old, Scott is confident in his possibilities and demonstrated on the field that he is in a position to fight for the Kirkwood Cup. Scott expressed that he will need an exceptional final round. “I’m going to have to have a very good round. A strong first part to get me in the fight and then, maybe, if I can put my name at the top with seven or eight holes to play. But I will also have to close well. I can’t stagnate. There is a lot of competition, it will have to be something spectacular tomorrow,” he stated. After a two-hour rain delay, Scott managed consecutive birdies on holes 12 and 13, allowing him to share the lead. A bogey on the next hole and a birdie on the 15th, followed by a mistake on the 17th, marked the end of his round. Scott explained that his focus is not on victory itself, but on correctly executing every aspect of the game. “I have achieved a good position,” he concluded.
