OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Scottie Scheffler demonstrated his dominance at the BMW Championship, conquering his fifth title of the season on the PGA Tour. Scheffler overcame a four-stroke deficit in just five holes and sealed his victory with a spectacular chip-in from 82 feet for birdie on the challenging 17th hole. With a final round of 67 strokes under par, Scheffler secured the victory by two strokes, becoming the first player since Tiger Woods (2006-07) to win at least five times on the PGA Tour in consecutive years.

MacIntyre and the Fight for Victory

Robert MacIntyre, although he didn’t get a birdie until the 16th hole, stayed in the fight, especially when Scheffler missed some short putts. MacIntyre got within one stroke of the top before reaching the 17th hole, the most difficult of Caves Valley, with a complicated green. Scheffler, from the rough, executed an amazing shot, sending the ball to the cup from a considerable distance.

It looked good when it landed, it looked good when it rolled, and it was nice to see it go in.

MacIntyre, with an outstanding performance, couldn’t match Scheffler’s consistency in the final holes, finishing with a round of 73 strokes.

Road to the Tour Championship

Scheffler leads the 30 players qualified for the Tour Championship at East Lake, where he will seek to become the first FedEx Cup champion to repeat since the start of the tournament in 2007. The competition at East Lake will be intense, with all 30 players having the opportunity to win the $10 million prize. Harry Hall was the only player who managed to get into the top 30 on Sunday. Rickie Fowler, for his part, was left out of the top 30 after missing the green twice in the second half of the course. Akshay Bhatia, despite some bogeys in the second half of the course, secured the 30th position. MacIntyre also wasted a great opportunity, but Scheffler demonstrated his superiority from the start, making the difference with his consistent game and impressive shots. Scheffler closed the tournament with a total of 15 under par (265 strokes) and has accumulated 18 titles in the last three years and six months since his first victory on the PGA Tour in Phoenix.
