Scottie Scheffler Wins at the Procore Championship Ahead of the Ryder Cup

Scottie Scheffler, the world number one, demonstrated his excellent form by winning the Procore Championship with an impressive final round of 67 strokes, adding his sixth victory of the season on the PGA Tour. Scheffler, who was looking to fine-tune his game before the Ryder Cup, overcame a two-stroke deficit against Ben Griffin, a Ryder Cup teammate. Griffin, who had started the final round with three consecutive birdies, finished one stroke behind Scheffler after an unfortunate three-putt on the 18th hole. Scheffler achieved a remarkable comeback over the weekend, recovering eight strokes against Griffin with rounds of 64 and 67. “I knew I had to have another good day,” stated Scheffler, who added his nineteenth victory on the PGA Tour.

I am grateful to be the winner this week.

Lanto Griffin achieved a notable third place with a round of 65, his best result in almost four years, which boosted him in the FedEx Cup ranking. The competition had a large attendance of fans, the largest Silverado has seen since the tournament moved to the wine region in 2014. Scheffler joins Tiger Woods as the only players in the last 40 years to achieve at least six victories in consecutive seasons. Young Jackson Koivun, the world’s best amateur, finished in a tie for fourth place, while Emiliano Grillo also achieved a good performance. The tournament had a strong turnout, with almost all the players from the American Ryder Cup team present, preparing for the event from September 26 to 28 at Bethpage Black. Other notable players like J.J. Spaun and Cameron Young also placed in the top 10.
