Rory McIlroy has secured his place on the European team for the 2025 Ryder Cup, becoming the first player to qualify. The official announcement was made on Monday, marking his eighth consecutive participation in this prestigious biennial event. McIlroy secured his qualification through the European Points List, a system based on his performances in the DP World Tour and co-sanctioned events. The Northern Irishman has achieved four victories since last August. The 35-year-old golfer completed the career Grand Slam at Augusta National last April. In addition to this, he won the Dubai DP World Tour Championship in November, the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and The Players Championship. A top-20 finish at the US Open over the weekend was enough to mathematically guarantee his place on the team. The 2025 Ryder Cup will be held at Bethpage Black, New York, from September 26 to 28. The European captain, Luke Donald, will complete his 12-player team later this year, selecting six players by automatic qualification and six by captain’s pick.

It’s always a great honor to represent Europe in the Ryder Cup, so it means a lot to have qualified for the eighth consecutive time and to be part of Luke’s team again at Bethpage.
