Cameron Percy Leads the Senior PGA Championship

Golfer Cameron Percy positioned himself at the top of the Senior PGA Championship after an outstanding first round. With an impressive round of 5 under par and a scorecard of 67 strokes, Percy established himself as the provisional leader of the tournament being held at Congressional.

Keith Horne, with a score of 68, placed second, one stroke behind the leader. South African golfers Ernie Els and Darren Fichardt, along with Simon Khan and Mario Tiziani, shared third place with a score of 69.

Ernie Els, who won the US Open on this very course in 1997, returned to Congressional, although the course has undergone notable changes since then. The weather conditions were challenging, with rain during the day, but Percy, who played in one of the last groups, was able to enjoy the sun and even a rainbow at the end of his round.

Percy started his participation in the tournament in the second half of the field and managed to take the lead thanks to an eagle on the 6th hole, a par 5, and a birdie two holes later.

For his part, Horne, 53, with nine victories on the Sunshine Tour of South Africa, as well as a win at the Zambia Legends Championship of the Legends Tour last year, made an eagle by holing a shot from 109 yards on the 8th hole, a par 4.
