Joaquin Niemann Crowned Champion at LIV Golf United Kingdom

Joaquín Niemann added his fifth victory of the season by winning the LIV Golf United Kingdom with a three-stroke lead. Niemann signed a card of 68 strokes, three under par, on Sunday, finishing the tournament with a total of 17 under par (196 strokes) at the JCB Golf and Country Club in Rocester, England. The Torque GC captain achieved five birdies and two bogeys, adding this title to his victories in Adelaide, Singapore, Mexico City, and Virginia. Niemann’s victory on Sunday earned him a prize of 4 million dollars. Interestingly, this victory comes after the golfer fired his caddie and coach after failing to make the cut at the 2025 Open Championship.

Despite Niemann’s individual triumph, his team, Torque GC, couldn’t hold onto their three-stroke lead over Legion XIII in their attempt to secure their first team title since 2023. Legion XIII had an outstanding performance on Sunday, with 14 under par, finishing the tournament at 35 under par, eight strokes ahead of Torque GC.

Well, I’m going to talk about the first two days because today I didn’t feel like I was in my best form. Yes, it was great. I was able to flow in difficult situations.

The Chilean golfer commented that he remained calm until Bubba Watson started playing well, which put pressure on him on holes 13 and 14. Niemann highlighted the importance of staying in the present and achieving a great shot on the 15th hole. Watson, for his part, achieved four birdies and two eagles between holes 9 and 14, finishing in second place with 14 under par. Niemann stopped Watson’s advance by leaving a ball less than five feet from the hole on the 15th hole.

Yes, I was very happy to see the ball go in so close, and making that birdie I think was huge for the next three holes. I feel like 16 is a good hole for a lefty, so I needed some space to be a little more comfortable. So, yes, it probably looked easier, but it was quite stressful.

Caleb Surratt (65 on Sunday) made six birdies to finish the tournament at 13 under par, followed by Talor Gooch (66) at 11 under par. As for the team game, Legion XIII captain Jon Rahm celebrated his team’s fourth victory this season.

With the four scores counting this year, I thought we played to our advantage. It was proven from the beginning and it’s being proven now. I think that in the middle of the season none of us played as well as possible. Last week I said that I hoped Caleb would have a good tournament and that we wouldn’t need to birdie the last four holes to win. It’s good to see the scoreboard and see that.
