LIV Golf Increases Prize Pools to $30 Million for 2026
The weekly prize pools for LIV Golf competitions will experience a significant increase in 2026, reaching $30 million, according to a report by the Sports Business Journal last Monday.
This $5 million increase will be specifically allocated to the team competition, representing a significant change in the distribution of prizes.
Starting next season, the prize structure will be modified. $20 million will be maintained for the individual stroke play format, while $10 million will be dedicated to the team competition, according to the report.
In comparison, the eight main PGA Tour events offer prizes of $20 million. The highest prize on the PGA Tour, even in the majors, is that of the Players Championship, which amounts to $25 million.
The 13 LIV Golf teams are designed to operate independently, allowing each captain to manage their own commercial agreements and players.
The responsibility for incorporating new players in the offseason now primarily rests with the teams and captains, as the massive signing bonuses that characterized the early stages of the league have been left behind.
