Thriston Lawrence Crowned Champion of the European Masters in Switzerland
South African golfer Thriston Lawrence showed his mettle by recovering from a complicated start to secure his victory at the European Masters held in Switzerland. With a final round of 4 under par, Lawrence took the title, adding his fifth win on the European circuit.
After making bogey on his first three holes, Lawrence exhibited a remarkable ability to recover. His performance included an eagle on the 6th hole, after a 20-foot putt, and five additional birdies on the Crans-sur-Sierre golf course.
The competition was intense, with Matt Wallace, Sami Välimäki, and Rasmus Hojgaard closely pursuing Lawrence. Wallace finished with 67 strokes, Välimäki with 65, and Hojgaard with an impressive round of 62.
Matt Fitzpatrick, who is seeking to secure a spot on the European Ryder Cup team, placed alone in fifth place, one stroke behind the leaders.
This victory marks a new milestone for Lawrence, who had already won the BMW International Open in June 2023.
