Michael Kim Crowned at the French Open: An Unexpected Triumph
American golfer Michael Kim secured a thrilling victory at the French Open, clinching his first world title in seven years. Kim, with an outstanding performance, finished the tournament with an impressive 15-foot par putt on the final hole, guaranteeing his triumph by one stroke. Kim, who was ranked 64th in the world, performed with a shot from the bunker on the 18th hole that came up short, but managed to sink it for par and complete a round of 65 strokes, six under par, finishing the week at 16 under par.Kim’s victory marked a significant milestone, as his last triumph dated back to 2018 at the John Deere Classic on the PGA Tour, where he won by eight strokes. In the competition, Elvis Smylie of Australia and Ko Jeong-weon of France also stood out, both with rounds of 65 strokes, which placed them in a tie for second place.I went blank when that ball went in.

On the other hand, Brooks Koepka, who started the final round at the top of the leaderboard, had a less favorable second half of the game. With eight pars and a bogey in the last nine holes, Koepka, winner of five majors, finished alone in fourth position with a round of 68 strokes.
Koepka’s last victory was in August 2024, on the LIV Golf circuit in Greenbrier, West Virginia. This was his third consecutive week on the European tour, after failing to make the cut at the Irish Open and the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. In addition to his success on the field, Kim has become a popular figure on social media in recent years. This triumph makes him the first American to win the French Open in 53 years, since Barry Jaeckel in 1972. Previously, Walter Hagen and Byron Nelson also managed to win this prestigious tournament.
