Rikuya Hoshino Withdraws from the Scottish Open Due to Injury
European Tour golfer Rikuya Hoshino was forced to withdraw during the first round of the Genesis Scottish Open on Thursday due to a neck injury.
Hoshino, after completing 16 holes at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, started his round on the back nine and finished with a bogey on the 7th hole, a par 4, before withdrawing from the competition.
The 29-year-old Japanese player was at 3 over par, accumulating five bogeys and two birdies.
Hoshino has one victory on the DP World Tour in Europe and six on the Japanese Tour, where he was recognized as Rookie of the Year in 2018. In the current season, he has achieved five top-50 finishes on the PGA Tour. In addition, he has made six cuts and missed nine.
