Stewart Cink Wins Charles Schwab Cup
In an exciting final round at the Phoenix Country Club, Stewart Cink won the Charles Schwab Cup Championship on the PGA Tour Champions, also securing the season-long Charles Schwab Cup points title.
Cink sealed his triumph with a round of 67 strokes, four under par, finishing the tournament with a total of 264 strokes, 20 under par. He surpassed Steven Alker by two strokes, who led the standings after the third round and also placed second in the overall season standings. Alker had a bogey on the 18th hole, finishing the day with 70 strokes.
This triumph marks Cink’s third victory of the season and the fourth in 36 appearances on the over-50 circuit. In his PGA Tour career, Cink has won eight titles, including a memorable victory at the 2009 British Open, where he defeated Tom Watson in a playoff.
Freddie Jacobson, Jerry Kelly, and Tommy Gainey shared third place, finishing with a total of 15 under par.
