Thomas Bjorn Wins at the Stifel Charity Classic

St. Louis – Thomas Bjorn secured victory at the Stifel Charity Classic after an exciting playoff against Cameron Percy. Bjorn made a birdie from 35 feet on the first playoff hole, securing his first individual win on the PGA Tour Champions.

Bjorn finished the day with a card of 67 strokes, four under par, tying Percy, who staged a remarkable comeback with birdies on three of the last four holes to sign a 64. Both players finished the tournament with a total of 12 under par, totaling 201 strokes at the Norwood Hills Country Club.

On the 18th hole, par 4, of the playoff, Bjorn holed a long putt, while Percy’s birdie attempt, from a slightly closer distance, veered off the left edge.

This triumph represents the second victory for Bjorn, 54, on the over-50s circuit this year. Previously, he teamed up with Darren Clarke to win the American Family Insurance Championship in June, in Madison, Wisconsin. The Dane has 15 victories on the European Tour and captained the winning European Ryder Cup team in 2018, held in France.

Percy, from Australia, was on the verge of his first victory on the senior circuit.

Alex Cejka of Germany, suffered a bogey on the 18th hole after missing a putt, finishing one stroke outside of the playoff. He finished the tournament with a round of 69.
