George Russell, Formula 1 driver, has expressed his conviction that most of the drivers on the grid would like to take his seat at Mercedes for next season. The 27-year-old driver signed a new multi-year contract this week, following negotiations and rumors linking Max Verstappen to the team.Mercedes confirmed its driver lineup until the end of next season, securing Russell and Kimi Antonelli until the end of 2026.This could leave the door open for Verstappen to be considered again for 2027, as many believe that Mercedes is well-positioned to have the most powerful engine with the new regulations of the sport.
Russell added that he is “super happy” with his decision.I think if all the seats were available right now and I could choose any to compete in the 2026 season, I would choose Mercedes. I think several drivers would too.

It has never been a concern for me and I believe 100% in my abilities and I would love to have that opportunity to compete alongside him.
