Leclerc: “No hope” for Ferrari in the Qatar Grand Prix

Doha, Qatar – Charles Leclerc expressed his pessimism about Ferrari’s chances in the Qatar Grand Prix, stating that no lap completed on the circuit has given him hope of competing for points on Sunday. Despite his outstanding skill in qualifying, Leclerc managed to get his Ferrari into Q3, a significant achievement given the team’s lack of points in the sprint race of the same day. During the final session, Leclerc experienced a spin, which relegated him to tenth position on the starting grid.

It’s really difficult to drive. It’s frustrating. The second lap in Q3 was very good, but it was only enough for tenth place, which is very frustrating.

Leclerc was skeptical about the possibility of maintaining a place in the top ten.

I am generally a very optimistic person, but I find it hard to find optimism for tomorrow. There’s no comeback this weekend that has given me hope that things can go in the right direction. A good day tomorrow will be to keep the car on the track and try to score some points.

Leclerc’s teammate at Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton, had a less favorable performance, being eliminated in the first qualifying round for the third consecutive time. The last time the seven-time champion was eliminated in Q1 in consecutive Grand Prix was in 2009. When asked about his confidence in moving up the positions in the race, Hamilton replied: “Not really. We saw in the sprint that there aren’t many overtakes. We’ll try something different with the strategy and see.”
