Leclerc Laments Ferrari’s Performance in Singapore

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc expressed his disappointment after the Singapore Grand Prix, calling the team’s current situation “not a pleasant feeling.” Leclerc, who finished in sixth position, has seen expectations around Ferrari’s performance lowered, while his rivals compete for victories. Ferrari has yet to achieve any victories in the 2026 season, while McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes have secured wins, even after the summer break. George Russell of Mercedes took the second win of the year for his team in Singapore. On the other hand, Leclerc and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, struggled with brake problems, finishing sixth and eighth respectively.

From the eighth lap, basically, it was all about managing those brakes. It made our race very, very complicated.

Leclerc offered a candid assessment of Ferrari’s position in the competition.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the race car to fight with those in front,” Leclerc said on Sunday night. “McLaren always had the same difference with us compared to the beginning of the year. Red Bull took a step from Monza and the same level as McLaren.

The driver added that Mercedes is now at the same level as McLaren and Red Bull, while Ferrari is in a less favorable position. Last year, Ferrari competed with McLaren until the last race, where Lando Norris’s victory was enough for McLaren to take the constructors’ championship. This season, Ferrari hasn’t matched McLaren’s pace, and the British team already secured the championship with six races remaining. Leclerc tried to maintain a positive attitude when talking about the season.

“I wouldn’t describe it as the most difficult season,” said Leclerc. “I think every time you’re not fighting for victories, it’s difficult, but obviously, coming from a year like the last one, where you’re fighting for the World Championship, the World Constructors’ Championship, and then you come here with high expectations.”

Leclerc admitted that it is difficult to manage the disappointment, but that this motivates him even more to change the situation. He concluded that it is a tough feeling, especially after a race like the one in Singapore, where he could not fight for a podium.
