Christian Horner Bids Emotional Farewell to Red Bull

Christian Horner expressed his “shock” at being dismissed as Red Bull’s boss in an emotional farewell to staff on Wednesday. Sky Sports broadcast a video of the meeting at the Milton Keynes factory, where the 51-year-old man, visibly moved, addressed the team for the last time as director.

Yesterday I was informed by Red Bull that, operationally, I would no longer be involved with the business or the team as of this meeting.

Horner went on to explain that, although he will remain employed by the company, the operational management would be handed over to another person. This, in his own words, was a shock. The executive took the opportunity to express his gratitude to each team member for their dedication over the past 20 and a half years. Horner recalled how, after Red Bull acquired the Jaguar team in 2005, he found two dilapidated buildings and began to build what became a powerhouse in Formula 1.

Being part of this team has been the greatest privilege of my life.

Christian Horner

His words were met with applause from the assembled employees.
