Lewis Hamilton has warned Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris about the need to be “ruthless” like Max Verstappen if they aspire to win the Formula 1 world title. The seven-time world champion, Hamilton, who lost the championship to Verstappen in 2021, knows firsthand the determination of the Dutch driver, who has dominated the competition with three consecutive titles. The fight for the championship seemed defined when Verstappen pulled away to 104 points from leader Piastri in August. However, Verstappen has won three of the last four races, closing to within 40 points of the Australian. Norris, for his part, has placed himself just 14 points behind his McLaren teammate, fueling the competition.

With five races remaining and 141 points at stake before the Mexican Grand Prix, Verstappen has established himself as a serious threat for the title. Hamilton, with his vast experience, is aware of the ferocity of his competitor. The pressure is high. It’s a time to focus and block out everything external. There’s a lot coming, both positive and negative. Hamilton added that Piastri and Norris must adopt a ruthless attitude, similar to Verstappen’s, to succeed. He highlighted the importance of consistency and the ability to withstand pressure to overcome a rival like Verstappen.
