Lewis Hamilton has expressed his opinion on the rumors circulating about a possible incorporation of Christian Horner to Ferrari, calling them “distractions”. This week, reports suggested that John Elkann, Ferrari chairman, would be interested in Horner taking on a management role in the Formula 1 team. Horner, who reached a $100 million agreement after being fired in July, would be interested in returning to the F1 paddock.

I don’t know where the rumors come from, so I can’t provide much information about it.

Hamilton added that this type of rumors “do not help”. When asked about the veracity of the reports and if it would be a good idea for Horner to become team principal, Hamilton simply replied: “No, and I’m not going to pay attention to those rumors.”

In the Singapore Grand Prix, Aston Martin team boss Andy Cowell commented that “it seems that Christian is calling almost all team owners at the moment”, dismissing any link between Horner and Aston Martin. Similarly, Haas F1 team director Ayao Komatsu dismissed any suggestion that he would join the team. In July, Ferrari signed a new multi-year contract with current team principal Fred Vasseur, ending speculation about his future, despite the team’s lackluster results. Since then, both Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have publicly backed Vasseur.

It’s a little distracting for us as a team. The team has made it clear how things are in terms of Fred’s renewal. Fred and I and the whole team are working very hard on the future of the team.

Hamilton added that the focus for the last six races of the season will be to score points and improve the team’s processes for next year. The seven-time world champion also highlighted the importance of maximizing performance in each race weekend.
