Hamilton Questions Himself After Poor Qualifying in Hungary
Pilot Lewis Hamilton expressed his frustration after a disappointing qualifying session for the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he finished in 12th position. Hamilton, visibly affected, described himself as “absolutely useless” after failing to advance to the final phase of qualifying at the Hungaroring circuit. The seven-time world champion was knocked out by just 0.015 seconds, while his Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc, surprisingly secured the pole position.
When asked about the possibility of Ferrari working to adapt the car to his driving style, Hamilton replied:I am useless. Absolutely useless.
This result marks the third disappointing qualifying session for Hamilton in the last two weeks, after being eliminated in the sprint qualifying and in the first qualifying session for the Belgian Grand Prix. This situation adds to a complicated first half of the season for Hamilton, who joined Ferrari from Mercedes during the winter, but has had difficulties adapting to the car in the first 13 races. His best result remains a victory in the sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix, although he has yet to reach the podium in a Grand Prix. In the Belgian Grand Prix, he took advantage of a race in rainy conditions to climb to seventh position from the start in the pit lane, but doubted that the rain forecast for Sunday would offer a similar opportunity in Hungary. “I don’t think anything can help me right now,” he added. The team has no problems. You can see that the car is on pole [with Leclerc]. They probably need to change drivers.
