India Defines its Lineup for the Adelaide Test

Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin, and Prithvi Shaw have been selected to represent India in the next Test in Adelaide. Umesh Yadav will complete the bowling attack as the third fast bowler. These were the main decisions India had to make before the start of the match. The choice of Shaw generated debate, especially with Shubman Gill showing a better performance in the practice games. However, Shaw, as a starting opener, has demonstrated his ability to be a key player. Although his recent scores were low, the team decided to maintain continuity at the top of the batting order.
India announced its lineup a day before the Adelaide TestSimilarly, Ashwin, the test-playing starting pitcher, retained his place, especially due to the absence of Ravindra Jadeja due to injury. The last time India chose not to include Ashwin in an opening match of a series was on the Australia tour in 2014-15. Regarding the wicketkeeper, India opted for Saha instead of Pant. The team management believes that Saha’s superior wicketkeeping skills are crucial, especially in the playing conditions with the pink ball. Yadav was the favorite to be India’s third fast bowler, replacing the injured Ishant Sharma.
