India reveals its lineup for the Adelaide Test

India has announced its team for the next Test in Adelaide, with Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin and Prithvi Shaw in the lineup. Umesh Yadav completes the trio of selected fast bowlers. The team selection came after a period of deliberation on several key issues, such as confidence in Shaw, the inclusion of a spinner, and the choice of wicketkeeper. Shaw, despite the pressure exerted by Shubman Gill, who performed better in the practice matches, retained his place as an opener. Although his recent scores were not high, his ability to be destructive in the past was an important factor.

The decision to include Ashwin reflects the importance of his experience in the team. As for the wicketkeeper, India opted for Saha instead of Pant. The coaching staff prioritized Saha’s wicketkeeping skills, especially in the playing conditions with the pink ball. Yadav, with experience touring Australia, was selected as the third fast bowler, replacing Ishant Sharma. His performance in the practice match was a decisive factor in his selection.
