India Defines Its Starting Eleven for the Adelaide Test

Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin, and Prithvi Shaw have been selected to represent India in the upcoming Adelaide Test. Umesh Yadav completes the trio of fast bowlers. The main questions the Indian team faced before the Test included the decision to maintain confidence in Shaw, the inclusion of a spinner, and the choice of wicketkeeper. Finally, the team announced its starting lineup, clearing up any uncertainty. Shaw, despite the pressure exerted by Shubman Gill, who showed a better performance in the practice matches, was confirmed as an opener. Although Shaw did not have outstanding performances in the practice games, the team opted to maintain continuity in the lineup.
Similarly, Ashwin, the starting spinner, kept his place, especially in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja due to injury. The decision to leave out Ashwin in an opening match of a series was criticized in the past. Regarding the wicketkeeper, India opted for Saha, preferring him over Pant. The team management believes that Saha’s skills are superior, especially in conditions where a more technical wicketkeeper is required. Despite Pant’s good performance in a practice match, his performance on the New Zealand tour was less remarkable. Yadav was selected as the third fast bowler, replacing the injured Ishant Sharma. His experience and good performance in the only practice match he played solidified him in the team.India Team: Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah.
