India announces XI for Adelaide Test: Shaw, Saha and Ashwin to start

1 Min Read

Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin, and Prithvi Shaw have been selected to represent India in the Adelaide Test. Umesh Yadav completes the fast bowlers trio. The main questions for India before the Test included Shaw’s continuity, the inclusion of a spinner, and the choice of wicketkeeper. Finally, the starting eleven was announced the day before the test, clearing up all doubts. Shaw, after a not-so-remarkable performance in the practice games, generated debate. Although Shubman Gill performed better, Shaw, as a starting opener, demonstrated his potential in New Zealand.

The selection of Ashwin, the starting spinner, was also maintained, especially in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja due to injury. Regarding the wicketkeeper, India opted for Saha instead of Pant. The management prioritized Saha’s skills, considering the playing conditions. Yadav is shaping up to be the third fast bowler, replacing Ishant Sharma, who is injured. His experience and performance in the practice game support this.

India’s Starting Eleven:

  • Mayank Agarwal
  • Prithvi Shaw

  • Ajinkya Rahane
  • Hanuma Vihari
  • Wriddhiman Saha (wk)
