Rolly Romero bursts into Welterweight, Ryan Garcia falls: Who’s up and down in the ranking?

The boxing world vibrated this weekend with the participation of several renowned fighters, including three leaders of their respective divisions. Canelo Álvarez, in super middleweight; Teofimo López, in super lightweight; and Naoya Inoue, in super featherweight, were victorious, consolidating their number one position in their categories.

In addition, Rafael Espinoza, in featherweight, maintained his second place after an outstanding performance.

On the other hand, Ryan Garcia, after serving a one-year suspension for doping, suffered a unanimous decision loss to Rolando “Rolly” Romero, preventing him from entering the welterweight top 10. Romero, in his debut at 147 pounds, did manage to enter the ranking, placing at number 9. Devin Haney, number 2 at 140 pounds, moved up to welterweight and defeated José Ramírez by unanimous decision, positioning himself at number 5 in the division.

Another relevant change is that of Jaime Munguia, who, after avenging his defeat against Bruno Surace, rises to sixth place, while Surace descends to seventh.

These boxing rankings highlight the best athletes in each weight category. Recent results and the performance of the boxers are key factors in updating these lists. Fighters who move to a new division will be included in the ranking of that category, once they have fought a bout there. Champions who hold titles in two divisions may be ranked in both.

Those boxers who have not competed in the last 12 months and have no scheduled fights will be removed from the rankings until they compete again. Likewise, any boxer who tests positive for prohibited substances will be excluded and may re-enter after their next fight.
