Lamont Roach Jr. vs. Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz: Clash of Titans in San Antonio

The current WBA junior lightweight champion, Lamont Roach Jr., will move up to 140 pounds to face Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz for the WBC interim super lightweight title on December 6 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. The event, organized by Premier Boxing Champions, promises to be a must-see spectacle. The main event will headline a PBC pay-per-view event on Prime Video. Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) changed course after a proposed rematch in August with Gervonta “Tank” Davis did not materialize. His rival focused on a match with Jake Paul in an exhibition in November. Roach and Davis starred in a controversial majority draw in March. Instead of waiting for the outcome of the Paul-Davis fight, Roach will seek to become interim champion at 140 pounds, marking his third consecutive fight competing in a different weight class. Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KOs) suffered a close decision loss to Davis in December 2021. Since then, he has accumulated a record of 6-1, winning the vacant WBC super lightweight title in his last fight, where he defeated Omar Salcido in July. From Mexico City, Cruz and his team see this fight as an opportunity to become the next big star in the country, calling it “the most important fight of his career.”

This is the most important moment Isaac Cruz has had in his career. This is even bigger than the first fight with ‘Tank’ because Mexico is looking for a new face of boxing after Canelo lost to Crawford. They are looking for a world champion and a new star to fight on the weekends of Mexican Independence Day and Cinco de Mayo.

The expectation is that this fight will propel Cruz into the conversation of the greats.
