Joseph Parker in Negotiations to Face Fabio Wardley

Boxer Joseph Parker is in talks to face British heavyweight Fabio Wardley on October 25 in London, according to sources close to the matter. Parker, with a record of 36-3 and 25 KOs, is the current holder of the WBO interim title. Initially, he was in line to challenge undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk. The WBO had ordered Usyk to begin negotiations with Parker, giving him 30 days to agree to a fight after his victory over Daniel Dubois last month. However, due to an injury, Usyk received an extension from the governing body, with a new deadline set for the end of this month.
Parker hasn’t fought since February. Sources indicate that Parker seeks to stay active and is in advanced talks to face undefeated British Wardley in a high-caliber heavyweight fight at the O2 Arena in London. Parker’s last fight was in February, where he achieved a knockout over Martin Bakole. Wardley (19-0-1, 18 KOs), from Ipswich, is the WBA interim champion and has a large following in his country. The 30-year-old boxer is coming off an impressive knockout victory over Australian Justis Huni in June. Parker, although he is from New Zealand, also has a considerable fanbase in the United Kingdom, where he has been training with Tyson Fury and coach Andy Lee.
