Manny Pacquiao, at 46 years old, has decided to come out of retirement. The legendary Filipino boxer will seek one more title, marking a new chapter in his illustrious career.His career, which led him to the International Boxing Hall of Fame, speaks for itself. “World champion in eight divisions, world titles in four different decades, the longest-reigning welterweight world champion in history, those are not just opinions. They are facts,” Pacquiao stated.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony, held at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York, was the setting where Pacquiao was honored as the main figure of the 2025 class. However, the celebration will be brief, as he prepares for his July 19th fight in Las Vegas against WBC champion Mario Barrios.
In his speech, Pacquiao highlighted his achievements, including the conquest of titles in eight different weight classes. He recalled his beginnings in the 106-pound category and his rise to win a title in the 154-pound category.
“From flyweight to super welterweight, eight divisions. Each fight, each victory was a step beyond poverty. It wasn’t just for me, but for my family, for the Filipino people,” Pacquiao expressed.

Alongside Pacquiao, Vinny Paz, a champion in three divisions, and Michael Nunn, a middleweight and super middleweight champion, were also honored. In the women’s category, Yessica Chávez, Anne Sophie Mathis, Mary Jo Sanders, and Cathy “Cat” Davis were recognized.
Davis, who fought against gender discrimination in boxing, commented on the recognition: “I have this beautiful ring and I asked them to make it big enough for my middle finger, because if I ever see those stupid old white men who kept us out, you know what I’m going to do.” Kenny Bayless, recognized for refereeing important Pacquiao fights, and referee Harry Gibbs were also included in the ceremony. In addition, cutman Al Gavin, commentator Randy Gordon, HBO producer Ross Greenburg, and boxers Rodrigo Valdez and Owen Swift completed the list of honorees.Pacquiao, who retired in 2021 with a record of 62-8-2 and 39 KOs, is remembered for his epic fights in the 2000s. He always sought the most difficult rivals, demonstrating his unwavering competitive spirit.
His career led him to wealth and to serve his country as a senator from 2016 to 2022. He even ran for president. With emotion, he thanked his supporters and his family.“This is our victory. This is our story, and the best is yet to come,” Pacquiao concluded.
