Anthony Joshua Could Return to the Ring in February

It is unlikely that Anthony Joshua will fight in 2025, with February being the most likely option for his return, according to his promoter, Eddie Hearn. Hearn had previously mentioned the possibility of Joshua, who hasn’t fought since his defeat to Daniel Dubois last September, returning this year. However, with time passing and the schedule filling up, it’s likely that AJ will return in early 2026, potentially at a major event in Africa.

At this moment, the most likely scenario is a return in February.

The promoter added that Joshua is already in full preparation for his training. Although he does not completely rule out a fight in December, he considers that the time is tight. If he returns in 2026, it would be the first time in his career that Joshua doesn’t fight in a calendar year. Hearn pointed out that, ideally, Joshua would return as a co-star in another fight card, although he acknowledged that this could be difficult given his superstar status.

He will fight in February, no matter what, whether it’s a second fight or his first fight back.

Joshua still wants to fight Tyson Fury next year, and Hearn mentioned that only Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, has the ability to finalize a deal with Fury. The agreement with Alalshikh is close to being finalized, but it’s irrelevant if Fury doesn’t participate. Alalshikh is the only person who can make that fight happen, given the amount of money involved and the way the deal needs to be structured.
