Anthony Joshua has resumed his training in the gym while he continues to recover from the car accident that cost the lives of two close friends. The former heavyweight world champion was injured in the accident that occurred in Nigeria on December 29, in which Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele died. Joshua shared a video on Snapchat showing his workout routines, hitting pads, exercising, and riding a stationary bike. One of the clips included the slogan “mental strength therapy”.

Joshua, born in Watford to Nigerian parents, was on vacation in Nigeria after his victory over Jake Paul in Miami, 10 days before the accident. Ghami was his strength and conditioning coach, while Ayodele was a fitness trainer. Promoter Eddie Hearn commented that he believes Joshua will return to boxing when he has had time to recover.

He will need time to recover physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually before making a decision about his future. I think he will want to return to boxing, but that will be his decision when the time is right.

Hearn added that he will not engage in conversations on the subject for the moment and that the priority is Joshua’s well-being. When the time is right, I think he will make his decision and make it known. That is the only voice they should listen to in this regard and we will give him time to make that decision and recover.
