Anthony Joshua Could Return to the Ring in February

Anthony Joshua’s return to boxing could be delayed until February 2026, according to statements from his promoter, Eddie Hearn. Initially, there was speculation about the possibility of Joshua, who hasn’t fought since his defeat against Daniel Dubois last September, returning this year. However, time is running out and the schedule is becoming complicated, so the most likely date for his return is in early 2026, possibly at a major event in Africa.

At this moment, the most likely scenario is a return in February.

Eddie Hearn
Hearn explained that, although Joshua is already in full preparation, a fight in December would involve a very tight deadline. If the comeback materializes in 2026, it would be the first time in Joshua’s career that he doesn’t compete in a calendar year. Hearn also mentioned that, ideally, Joshua would participate in an event as a co-star, although he acknowledged that this could be difficult given his position as a superstar.

He will fight in February, no matter what, whether in a second fight or his first comeback fight.

Eddie Hearn
Hearn commented that Joshua has been affected by his own success, as every time he fights, he does it in large stadiums and in demanding fights.

The next step is crucial for Joshua, who still aims to face Tyson Fury next year. Hearn pointed out that Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, is the only person who can finalize a deal with Fury. “Our agreement [with Alalshikh] which is not closed, is quite close. Let’s close a deal, but that’s totally irrelevant if Fury isn’t,” Hearn said. “The only person who will make that fight is Turki Alalshikh. That’s the reality because the amount of money Tyson Fury would earn and the way that deal has to fit, he is perfectly positioned and prepared to make the fight.”
