Jake Paul Approaches His World Cup Dream, According to the WBA

Jake Paul is getting closer to achieving his dream of becoming a world boxing champion. The World Boxing Association (WBA) has placed him at number 14 in its ranking, following his recent victory over former middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr. This positioning opens the door for Paul, who has gone from being an influential figure on social media to a professional boxer, to the possibility of challenging the WBA cruiserweight champion, Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, for the world title.

Before the fight, the WBA had hinted that it would consider including Paul in its ranking if he managed to beat Chávez Jr.

In the fight, Paul, 28, outboxed Chávez Jr. (54-7-1) over ten rounds, earning a unanimous decision at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. In the co-stellar event, Ramírez defended his WBA and WBO titles, defeating Yuniel Dorticos by decision. Paul is positioned one place above American Craig Parker (20-0, 20 KOs), who recently competed in heavyweight on April 1st and won by knockout. He is positioned after the Italian Giovanni Cristian Scuderi (12-0, 5 KOs), who hasn’t fought at cruiserweight since September 2022, and has participated in his last four fights at heavyweight.
