Fundora vs. Thurman: Clash of Titans in Las Vegas
The expected showdown between Sebastian Fundora and Keith Thurman is confirmed for October 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The fight, which promises to be electrifying, will put Fundora’s WBC super welterweight world championship on the line.
This main event is part of the “PBC on Prime” event, where O’Shaquie Foster will defend his WBC super lightweight title against Stephen Fulton, former super bantamweight champion and current WBC featherweight champion, in the co-main event.
The city of Las Vegas will be the stage where Thurman will seek to become a world champion in two different divisions. Interestingly, Fundora conquered the WBC title in this same city, replacing Thurman and defeating Tim Tszyu.
Fundora, with a record of 23-1-1 and 15 KOs, comes to this fight after successfully defending his title against Tim Tszyu in July, with a technical knockout victory in the seventh round. This will be his third title defense.
Thurman, with a record of 31-1 and 23 KOs, has had difficulties staying active, fighting only twice since his defeat to Manny Pacquiao in 2019. In his only fight at 154 pounds this year, Thurman achieved a knockout against Brock Jarvis.
O’Shaquie Foster (23-3, 13 KOs) was scheduled to defend his title against Fulton in August, in a pay-per-view event that included a rematch between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach. However, Davis chose to face Jake Paul in November.
Fulton (23-1, 8 KOs) will seek a third world championship in different weight classes. After defeating Brandon Figueroa by unanimous decision to win the WBC featherweight title in February, Fulton will move up in weight again.
Also on the card will be Jesus Ramos (22-1, 18 KOs) and Shane Mosley Jr. (22-4, 12 KOs) for the WBC interim middleweight title. In addition, former super welterweight champion Tony Harrison (30-4-1, 21 KOs) will face the undefeated Isaac Lucero (17-0, 13 KOs) at 160 pounds.
