Terence Crawford makes history by defeating Canelo Álvarez

Terence Crawford achieved a historic victory by defeating Canelo Álvarez by unanimous decision at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. This triumph grants him the undisputed super middleweight championship and marks a milestone in his career. Crawford, a four-division world champion, solidifies his legacy by becoming the first male boxer in the four-belt era (since 2007) to be undisputed champion in three weight classes: super lightweight, welterweight, and super middleweight. After a career mostly in the 135 and 147 pound divisions, Crawford moved up to 154 pounds in August 2024, where he defeated Israil Madrimov to obtain the WBA super welterweight title. Afterwards, he prepared for a year for the fight against Canelo. Canelo, also a champion in four divisions, suffered his third defeat in his career. The other two were against Floyd Mayweather in 2013 and Dmitry Bivol in 2022, when Canelo moved up to light heavyweight to contend for a world title. The defeat against Crawford interrupted a streak of six consecutive victories.
