Ring Magazine 3: Berlanga vs. Sheeraz and Stevenson vs. Zepeda in New York
The Ring Magazine 3 event, which promises to be an epic night of boxing, has confirmed its venue. The Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York, will be the setting for two stellar fights on July 12th.
The event, which will be broadcast on DAZN, will feature Shakur Stevenson defending his WBC lightweight title against William Zepeda. In addition, the highly anticipated super middleweight clash between Edgar Berlanga and Hamzah Sheeraz will also be part of the card.
The Louis Armstrong Stadium, inaugurated in 2018, is known for hosting tennis events, including the US Open. With a capacity close to 15,000 spectators and a retractable roof, the stadium offers ideal conditions for a boxing event in summer. It is the first tennis stadium with a roof and natural ventilation.
Despite Stevenson’s title defense being the main event during fight week, it will be the super middleweight clash between Berlanga and Sheeraz that will close out the night.
Stevenson, with a record of 23-0 and 11 KOs, comes to this fight after a TKO victory in the ninth round over Josh Padley in February. For his part, Zepeda, with an undefeated record of 33-0 and 27 KOs, defeated Tevin Farmer by decision in March.
Berlanga (23-1, 18 KOs) returns to the ring after his decision loss to Canelo Álvarez last September. Sheeraz (21-0-1, 17 KOs), originally from England, is coming off a controversial draw against Carlos Adames, WBC middleweight champion, in February.
Ring Magazine 3 will take place one day after the expected trilogy between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, which will also be held in New York, at Madison Square Garden.
